History
of Green Tea Seed Oil

Asia is the birthplace of tea and China was
the first country to utilize oil extracted from the seeds of the tea
plant for culinary purposes. Green Tea Seed Oil is used in China – and
also other parts of Asia – not only for its diverse benefits as a primary
cooking oil, but to nurture and protect the skin and hair. Green Tea
Seed Oil is revered for its highly desirable unsaturated fats, to ‘season’
or condition cooking woks used in daily food preparation, and as an
ingredient in natural skin and body care products.

There are over 80 species of Camellia plants including the popular “tea
oil seed” varieties (C. sinensis and C. oleifera) that
have been commercialized and serve as the basis for not only tea beverages,
but as the source of precious Green Tea Seed Oil. Early each winter,
seeds from these special Camellia plants are harvested, cleaned and
then gently crushed (cold pressed) to obtain their beneficial oil. The
result is a delicious, nutritious and healthy vegetable oil now being
presented to the western world by the renowned Tian Tea Gardens™ located
in the pristine highlands of China.
